CMU Researcher had been awarded Gold Medal and Special Prize from Research Result of Collagen in New Form in “International Invention & Trade Expo London”

Assistant Professor Dr. Supat Jiranusornkul, Pharmacist, Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University had been awarded Gold Medal prize of development new form of collagen consumption in “International Invention &Trade Expo London 2019” during August 29 – 30, 2019. It is prize of pride that happened from collaboration of researcher team of Faculty of Pharmacy and Associate Professor Dr. Sujinda Sriwattana, Faculty of Agro-Industry under patent on behalf of Chiang Mai University.

This year there are more than 20 countries such as England, France, Italy, Morocco, Poland, Iran, China (People’s Republic of China), South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia. Besides, Assistant Professor Dr. Supat Jiranusornkul not only had been awarded Gold Medal prize but he had also been awarded special prize from World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA) and special certificate from Chief Judge of Judicial Committee in this contest.

Assistant Professor Dr. Supat Jiranusornkul, Department of Pharmaceutical Science, Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University revealed that nowaday consumption of collagen is truly wide spread. Collagen is a type of protein fiber found abundantly, around 40 %, throughout our body. As we age, production of collagen in our body dramatically decrease. Consumption of supplementary collagen is an excellent option to replace lost collagen. So, he has studied and testing new route in collagen absorption through buccal mucosa instead of tablets which are difficult to swallow and have poor absorption or even in form of collagen powder drinks that are still have to pass and loss in digestive system and liver. The absorption through digestive tracts will not be as fast and efficient as buccal absorption.
